In tone, it reminds me a little bit of Super Mario Brothers, where the only sensible thing to do was make a dark and depressing film version of the cute and cuddly original medium. And how did they manage to make bending look so ... silly. In the TRAILER.
Maybe I'm being too critical. I've only seen the first season, and seen it recently, but am enjoying it so far. I hope they release an extender trailer of this soon, too... My understanding is that this will continue (and finish?) the story line of the cartoon, but I think there is still a lot of wiggle room.

ReplyDeleteSecond, the cartoon finished it's own story, there was confusion about the "movie" thing, which ended up being a 2 hour special on nicktoons.

Fourth, I thought the races in the cartoon where pretty clearly laid out: Fire Nation was Japanese, Air Nation was Chinese, Water Nation was North-pacific Islanders, and Earth Nation was Southern Chinese. Seemed pretty simple, but somehow MNS has decided that the Fire Nation is Indian and the Water Tribes are white. That's the stuff that chaps my hide.
First, I'm hoping Shamalamadingdong hedges against the inevitable suck factor by having someone crawl under a riding mower, though I know that even this won't be enough.

Fourth, I had the same WTF thought. It almost looked like they were gonna make Fire Nation arabs. Meanwhile, Water are the darkest people on the show. And Japan really works, too, given their history of trying to conquer China.
Fifth, yeah, it is gonna suck.
They could still make the Fire Nation arab, the reason I say Indian is cause they cast the kid from Slumdog Millionaire as Zuko.
